Bernard Barker – FRCMO (Chm), FTCL, LRAM, ARCM, Cert Ed (Dunelm)

Bernard was born in London and educated at the Royal College of Music and Durham University.
He began his career as organist of Ealing Abbey whilst still a student, and subsequently became Organist and Assistant Music Master at Sherborne Girls’, where he learnt more than he taught, and was also Assistant Organist of the Abbey.
From there he went to join the music staff of the Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School, Elstree, combining this with being Organist of St George’s Hanover Square and Director of the Chandos Chamber Choir.
He was the Accompanist and Assistant Conductor of the Harrow Choral Society for over 25 years.
Since then, he has enjoyed a mixed portfolio as an educator, conductor, chorus master and organist, and is the Director of Music of the German Church in Knightsbridge and on the music staff of St James’ Church Piccadilly, and a UK and International examiner for the ABRSM.
He has performed extensively in Europe, also in SE Asia and South Africa. His interests are varied, and include architecture, biographies, church history, French wine, gardens, politics and Westie dogs.
He is a Freeman of the City of London, and lives in Deddington and Dulwich.
