In June 2021 Will Gompertz became the Artistic Director of The Barbican.

Before joining The Barbican in 2021, Will was the BBC New’s first Arts Editor.
He has an impressive track record and has won many accolades not least as Director of the Tate Gallery, where during his seven year tenure he was responsible for the award-winning Tate Online, the UK’s most popular art website, and Tate Etc, the UK’s highest circulation art magazine.
In addition to these career achievements he is an articulate and interesting communicator in broadcast and written media, contributing to The Times and The Guardian plus writing and performing in his sell-out one-man show ‘Double History’ at the Edinburgh Fringe. He has written other books and was voted one of the World’s top 50 creative thinkers by the New York-based Creativity Magazine.
