Simon Gillespie – Behind the Scenes of an Art Restoration Studio
Members of The Arts Society Victoria are invited to an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Simon Gillespie’s renowned London art restoration studio.
Familiar to many from the BBC Four series Britain’s Lost Masterpieces, Simon brings neglected paintings back to life with a blend of scientific precision and artistic sensitivity. His studio restores and conserves works from every period and style, treating each piece with meticulous care and respect.
This special visit offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of art conservation, with stories from Simon’s remarkable projects and insight into the craft of restoration.

Jonathan Keates – Handel in Mayfair (and in London generally!)
He will explore society and the vast building work that took place in the west of the city in the first half of the 18th Century. We will learn why street names in Mayfair have the names they have, together with Handel’s societal connections in London and how it influenced what he wrote.
